Brasil
How to think of the economical and social development of a country like Brazil, characterized remarkably by a cultural mixture, an interaction of different races and peoples, considering that its territory was built up under the sign of the conquest, of the the physical violence, allowing the slavery, followed by the psychical and spiritual domination that the racial hierarchy would offer as one of the bases of the social life? How to imagine the progress of such a country, of such a nation anchored under the sign of the miscegenation perceived as a curse according to the racial theories? From his own experience, the author, himself, a half-breed Brazilian, interrelated the Brazilian official History and the forgotten history of the afro-descendents, pointed out by Jorge Amado, a great writer from Bahia in his novel Tieta dos Milagres. Thus, by applying both the methodology of cultural studies and social criticism, without concentrating on the scientific borders and without forgetting to return to the literary field, as a real alchemist, the author tries to elaborate his text in a way that may be read as a true testimony of life as well as a praise to the ethos of the inhabitants from Bahia, therefore as a reversion of the negative stereotypes concerning the half-breed people.
