This article investigates the role and function of framing processes in television news reports on the basis of the armed incident on September 20th 2016 near Aleppo, using five news reports of the German public-service broadcasters ARD and ZDF. Sequences of these reports were transcribed and analyzed in the search for frame-specific patterns. The findings show that frames do occur in all the examined sequences and mainly replace the core news facts in a particularly polarising narrative.
