  La fibra dietética es un componente de la dieta ampliamente estudiado, debido a que se le atribuyen una gran variedad de beneficios en la salud del consumidor. Existen diversas definiciones y clasificaciones para la fibra dietética, esta diversidad se genera por las distintas áreas que la que se estudian, una de las clasificaciones más aceptadas se basa en el grado de hidratación con agua, teniendo fibras solubles e insolubles. Sus efectos funcionales pueden ser tecnológicos o nutracéuticos, los primeros son las propiedades que otorga a un alimento, y los segundos los beneficios que genera en la salud. La fibra dietética puede encontrarse de forma natural en los alimentos o puede ser añadida en su elaboración. Es necesario tener un consumo adecuado de fibra dietética para poder disponer de todos los beneficios que brinda, desde sus efectos en la salud digestiva, hasta su papel en la prevención y tratamiento de diversas patologías.

  Dietary fiber is a widely studied component of the diet, as it is attributed with a wide variety of health benefits for the consumer. There are various definitions and classifications for dietary fiber, this variety is generated by the different areas that study it, one of the most accepted classifications is based on the degree of hydration with water, having soluble and insoluble fibers. Its functional effects can be technological or nutraceutical, the first are the properties it gives to a food, and the second the health benefits it generates. Dietary fiber can be found naturally in food or it can be added in its preparation. It is necessary to have an adequate intake of dietary fiber to be able to have all the benefits it provides, from its effects on digestive health, to its role in the prevention and treatment of various pathologies
