Resumen de Propuesta de interpretación de la Escala Wechsler de Inteligencia para Niños 5ta edición (WISC-V): hacia un uso educativo

La Escala Wechsler de Inteligencia para Niños (WISC-V) es ampliamente utilizada en el mundo, siendo un referente en la evaluación intelectual de estudiantes de enseñanza básica y media. En Chile, a partir del Decreto 170/2009, se norma su uso y propósito en el contexto de la educación especial. Sin embargo, los resultados que se obtienen con este instrumento se usan para apoyar la identificación de diagnósticos médicos, siendo contrario al sentido de la actual política de inclusión. El objetivo de este artículo es presentar una adaptación del modelo de interpretación de la WISC-V de Flanagan y Alfonso (2017), a través de su aplicación a dos casos de estudiantes de enseñanza básica. Se concluye que la propuesta promueve un uso educativo de los resultados delineando adecuaciones y ajustes. En nuestro país no existen otros referentes de interpretación educativa de la WISC-V, siendo un aporte la presente adaptación.

The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-V) is widely used around the world, being the basis for the intellectual assessment of elementary, middle and high students. In Chile, since the approval of Decree 170, its use and purpose are regulated in the context of special education. Unfortunately, the information provided by the WISC-V focuses its judgments on identifying medical diagnostics, which is counterproductive to the meaning of the current inclusion policy. The aim of this paper is to present an adaptation of the WISC-V interpretation model by Flanagan and Alfonso (2017). Theoretical concepts of this approach were reviewed and then applied to two elementary case studies. It is concluded that this model promotes the educational application of the assessment results drawing out educational adjustment. In our country there are no other frames of reference for the educational interpretation, therefore this adaptation will contribute to the future practices.
