    En la era digital los significados sociales y culturales del cuerpo han cambiado gracias a la tecnociencia, el mercado y posibilidades del ciberespacio. El cuerpo humano se ha convertido en uno de los territorios más importantes de la representación del “yo” y la identidad. A lo largo de la historia, el cuerpo ha estado relacionado con una serie de dicotomías y estrictas divisiones (sujeto/objeto, masculino/femenino, naturaleza/cultura) que han pretendido gobernar y disciplinarlo. Estas divisiones se han vuelto más difusas y las categorías ya no son tan claras debido a que los espacios de lo real y lo virtual se sobreponen, conformando nuevos territorios de exploración y transgresión. El sujeto tiene, por lo tanto, nuevas y complejas formas de construir su identidad en las que participa directamente la tecnología y la tecnociencia.

    In this digital age the social and cultural meanings of the body have changed due to technoscience, the market and the possibilities of cyberspace. The human body has become one of the most important territories for the subject’s representation of the “self” and identity. Along history the human body has been connected to dichotomies and strict divisions (subject/ object, masculine/feminine, nature/culture), that pretended to govern and control its possibilities. These divisions and categories are not so clear, as they used to be. The real and the virtual, overlap, creating new territories of exploration and transgression. The subject has access to new and complex ways of constructing his or her identity using tools and possibilities offered by technology and technoscience.
