In two previous columns,1,2 we looked at the importance of community colleges in general, in terms of enrollment and diversity, and on the impact of two-year college (TYC) physics programs on the physics profession. But most students enrolled in our physics courses are not physics majors. What is the impact of our courses on those students, both STEM majors and non-STEM majors?
