  Facilitating oral interaction between “natives” and “non natives” and between “non natives” among themselves is the major challenge for the teaching of French as a Foreign Language today. Unconditional adherence to the “standard” ideal of pronunciation should be adapted to new circumstances. The authors recommend a reflexive approach for integrating specific features of foreign pronunciation as well as a selection of essential phonetic characteristics for communication effectiveness.

  Faciliter l’interaction orale entre « natifs » et « non natifs » et entre « non natifs » entre eux : voilà un défi majeur de la didactique du FLE aujourd’hui. L’adhésion inconditionnée à l’idéal de prononciation « standard » doit être adaptée à la nouvelle donne. Les auteurs préconisent une approche réflexive permettant d’intégrer les spécificités sonores des apprenants étrangers et, du côté de la production, une sélection des traits phonétiques essentiels à la transmission efficace du message.
