    • This is a review of the political and scientific reasons that have led to the legislated phasing out of tin-lead capsules in the European Union and the US, and the continued downward pressure on the lead content of wine. Recent research results are also provided on the sources of lead in grape berries and wine, and the bioavailability of this lead in wine.
