Termigal: a terminoloxía científico-técnica en galego

  • In this article the Terminology Service of Galicia (Termigal) will be presented, together with the various terminological research works which are being currently carried out by this service. Furthermore, we will offer a vision of the organization and management of those terminological researches, focu-sing on the aquatic organisms terminological databank, which laid the Jounda-tions far the "Vocabulario multilingüe de organismos acuáticos" (a multilin-gual vocabulary on aquatic organisms). Finally, there will be provided some exemplifications of a systematic terminological analysis of neologisms in the area of internet, which is part of a wider project on computing and telecommu-nications. Each section in which this article is divided is introduced by a brief theoretical study, which is accompanied by clarifying examples. It is essential we realize that there exists an increasingly demand of Galician terminologi;, and that a service like Termigal is trying to fill this terminologiJ vacuum. The creation of a Terminology Service in Galicia has as its main Junction to coordi-nate the contributions of ali the specialists in Galician terminologi; in arder to join efforts and offer a nonnalized and standardized terminology
