  • Resumen
    • This paper presents a theoretical overview of peace research studies and itsdevelopment in its intersection with gender. Peace studies as an academicfield has evolved since its emergence. The first agenda was criticized for itsfocus on the study of violence, in light of the historical context which arosein the aftermath of World Wars I and II. Researchers identify three stageswithin the first agenda, which are: direct violence versus negative peace, positive peace versus structural violence, and culture of peace versus culturalviolence. The second agenda, known for its proposal of An EpistemologicalTurn, recommends two hybrid dimensions to peace studies (i.e. polemologyand irenology), which also proposes to look at peace as imperfect. Inaddition, peace studies has intersected with the gender perspective since itsincorporation in the 1980s to address questions in this area.
